My favourite products for bleached blonde hair

Yes, you should have noticed that I’m not a natural blond. Having a natural brown hair and try to bleach it to light blonde is very hard and expensive. It is a long journey which requires a lot of visits to the hairdresser, patience and a lot of treatment at home to maintain the shine and the health of your hair.

For that reason, I would like to share with you the products that I’m currently using. Some of them aim to keep the ash colour of my hair and some others help maintaining my hair nice and healthy.

Some facts about my hair

I went to a lot of hair salons in Ireland and it has been quite hard to find someone who could deal with my type of hair. Some hairdressers claimed that my hair would not bear too much bleach and would break after the process. Others tried, but the result was a golden tone which I was not looking for. Finally, I found a great professional at the DaveyDavey hair salon and I fell in love with him. After my husband, he is the most important man in my life (It is a joke, of course. :P)

I dye my hair every three months. I do the roots and, if necessary, also the length because I want to be more and more blonde.

To keep my hair safe, we use Olaplex during the entire procedure.

How do I maintain the ash colour of my hair?

First of all, I want to mention that all these products are good but only for maintaining the tone of your hair between the salon sessions. These products have been very good for my hair but could be useless for other types of hair.

This is a good option if you don’t want to spend a lot of money. Less than 5 euros. This shampoo has a lilac blue colour which will give your hair a lovely ash tone. As the product says, it is made to be used twice a week. By experience, if you use it more often your hair may go to green and a little dry. I recommend doing a nice mask after the shampoo to make your hair look nicer.

Around 10€, this is my favourite shampoo so far. I always try new silver shampoos but always return to this one. It has a perfect purple tone that gives you a nice ash colour which never turns green. I use it almost every time I wash my hair. Since the silver shampoo doesn’t clean your hair, I use a regular sulphate free shampoo before applying Bleach London.

This shampoo is a professional line and it has a light purple tone which makes my hair look not too ashy and with a pink undertone. I really like it when I want to reach a more natural blonde.

This is a treatment after the shampooing. It is my favourite product so far because it does all. It makes my hair to lose the yellow tone and look healthier. I totally recommend this product in between your salon sessions.

How do I maintain my hair healthy?

Bleaching your hair makes it very delicate and fragile. You should help it to look healthy and strong with masks and serum. My best products are the following:

This is not a mask but a good professional treatment to do at home. Unlike mask, after the treatment, your hair needs to be washed with shampoo and conditioner. Olaplex revitalizes shine and complexion the hair fibres and it makes it looks refresh and new.

Personally, I love this mask because it makes me feel like I had put my head into an ice bucket. It makes my head feels refresh and clean and it also smells like menthol!. I totally recommend this mask after a hard day at work or if you simply need to refresh your hair from a hot day.

I recommend to use a serum to prevent the ends of your hair tends to break. I use it before the blow-dry with my hair wet and after it to reduce the frizz.

I hope you enjoyed this post and found it useful.

Let me know in the comments below your questions and ideas for future posts.

See you next time!

Xoxo Emilia
